New bodywork coming to Trans Am's TA class in 2017

MIAMI, Fla.  [November x, 2016] – The infamous GT cars of Trans Am's TA class will be sporting new bodywork come the 2017 season, with new Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger bodies to join the ranks of the recently redesigned Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray, Ford Mustang and Cadillac CTS-V.

"The TA class is synonymous with the Trans Am Series," said John Clagett, President of The Trans Am Race Company. "This new wave of bodywork is another step forward as we continue to build the class' marketing platform and relevance within the automotive marketplace.  The performance of these cars is unparalleled as a driver’s class; now Trans Am offers multiple modern makes and models for our competitors and fans."

The new Camaro body, the model's first refresh for the TA class in over a decade, will be produced by both Derhaag Motorsports and Advanced Composite Products, with both manufacturers operating from an identical mold.

The Dodge Challenger will be produced exclusively by Advanced Composite Products and will be the model's first ever appearance in the TA class and Dodge's first since the Dodge Daytona of the early 1990's.  Both the Camaro and Challenger bodies will be available for purchase by year-end.

"We're pleased to extend our body work offerings to include the Chevrolet Camaro," said Jim Derhaag, Owner of Derhaag Motorsports.  "We'd had great success with the Corvette body and are pleased to be able to offer options to the Trans Am competitor base."

"We're very excited to offer the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger for 2017," said Kerry Hitt, Owner of Advanced Composite Products.  "I firmly believe our customers will be pleased with these two new products, and we're proud to play a role in Trans Am's continued growth."
